DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
We feel like singing all the time; we would take down our harp from the willows, if we had hung it there, and we would waken every string to the sweetest melody of praise unto the Lord our God. Yet, Lord, we cannot close with praise, for we are obliged to come before you with humble confession of sin. We are not worthy of the least of all these favors you have blessed us with; we cannot say, “I am worthy for whom you should do this thing,” no, we are altogether unworthy, and your gifts are according to the riches of your grace, for which again we praise you.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift…” (Ephesians 2:8)
Neither the faith nor the salvation are of ourselves. They are both the gifts of divine love, both wrought in us by the divine Spirit. It is the gift of God.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Matpa in Bhutan.
The Matpa do not have the Bible in their language.
Pray that skilled Bible translators would come to the Matpa.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
You need to see Jesus*
Taking a good, long look at Jesus as he is revealed in Scripture is one of the most important (and often overlooked!) disciplines in the Christian life. Recently, a new book, The Risen King by Charles Spurgeon, has been a really helpful and encouraging tool to help me gaze into the face of Jesus.
The Risen King is a new 40-day devotional that walks through the life and ministry of Jesus to help you prepare for Easter. Each day, a passage from Scripture is explained and applied by Spurgeon.
Reading this book was so encouraging — it forced me to slow down and really enjoy and appreciate aspects of Jesus’ life and ministry that I had taken for granted in the past.
This month only (just a week left!!), this new book is available for 25% off — order your copy using code SPURGEON to save. You’ll also receive the ebook for free.
This book has really encouraged me and I can’t wait to pick it back up again next year. I know this book will encourage you.
