DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Perhaps, some have come here from a week of great anxiety. Help them to be anxious no longer, to cast their care on the Lord. Oh, do not let the sheep take to shepherdizing, but may they leave the Shepherd to do his own work for them. Oh, deliver your people from attempting to rule the world. Let us not want to drive our Father’s horses but be satisfied to ride with him. Some of your children may have come here in conscious sin; they know they are yours but they equally know they are not what they ought to be. Your presence can light them up; it can spiritualize, it can purify; and they shall feel in the presence of God that the Lord has sanctified them by his truth and himself.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)

This is our city; by faith, we enter into the purposes and promises of God and there we dwell in perfect peace. The adversary may thunder outside the walls; but what of that? He may threaten that he will capture the city; but how can he do so when the Lord is there? This is a sweet, sweet verse.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Dhund of Pakistan.

The Dhund’s language, Northern Hindko, is spoken by an estimated 8.1 million people around the region. There is no Bible in their language.

Pray that God’s Word would be translated into Hindko faithfully.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

A fresh presentation of the gospel that’s packed with joy*

Many “spiritually curious” people think they’ve heard what Christianity has to offer and aren’t interested. Unfortunately, more often than not, they’ve only heard a watered-down Christianity that’s about what we can do to earn God’s love instead of the truth of what God has done to save us.

We constantly need fresh presentations of the gospel that help people — from skeptics to seekers — see how wonderful the good news of Jesus really is.

And that’s exactly what Somethingism (a new book by Luke Cawley) does — he presents a coherent, intelligent response for anyone who believes there is “something” out there, but not sure what.

This book builds on the generic knowledge of God that all people have (see Romans 1) and builds a logical case from “god” to the Lord Jesus Christ, risen from the dead for our salvation.

This is not another stiff apologetic book that’s packed with “arguments” and “proofs” for God. Somethingism is warm and wonderful. He doesn’t just show that the gospel is reasonable, he shows that it’s incredible.

My friends at the Good Book Company want to make it as easy as possible for you to get your hands on this book — you can pre-order it for 30% off if you use code SPURGEON at the link in my bio.

I can hardly express how encouraging this book is for the Christian and how powerful it will be for a non-Christian. I read the book in one sitting because I could not put it down and I’m already planning to order another copy for a non-Christian I know.
