DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Oh Lord God, the great I AM, we confess and cheerfully acknowledge that all comes from you. You have made us — we did not make ourselves. The breath in our nostrils is kept there by your continued power. We owe our sustenance, our happiness, our advancement, our ripening, our very existence entirely to you. We bless you for all the mercies with which you surround us, for all things which our eyes see that are pleasant, which our ears hear that are agreeable, and for everything that makes existence to be life.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.” (John 1:3)
He that hung upon the cross was the Maker of all worlds. He that became an infant, for our sake, was the Infinite. How low he stooped! How high he must have been that he could stoop so low!
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Yangliu Lalu of China.
The Yangliu Lalu worship their ancestors; they believe that souls of the dead continue to roam the earth.
Pray that they would know that it is appointed a man once to die and after that comes judgment.

How should we relate to the God who made all things?
The fear of God is a troubling and confusing phrase for many. We know that it appears all over Scripture, but we don’t know what it means. We know it means more than basic “respect” or “reverence.” But we also don’t feel right running scared from our loving Father.
A really helpful book, Rejoice and Tremble: The Surprising Good News of the Fear of the Lord by Michael Reeves is a beautifully helpful guide to understanding and applying the fear of the Lord.
Reeves shows that the fear of the Lord is not a negative fleeing from God, but a wonder-filled joy in God and all that he is. The fear of God is the path to freedom from all anxiety. Reading this book filled my heart with joy and love for the God who must be feared, and I know that it will do the same for you.
