Thanks for praying with us this week. We’ll be back on Monday.

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Our heart is filled with praise which will make us silent, because we can never sufficiently express your goodness. It could not have seemed true at first blush that you should pierce your Son with the sharpest whip that we might enjoy the richest life; yet so it is, and we believe it. It pleased the Father to pierce him. You have put him to grief. You have made his soul an offering for sin. Lord, we cannot praise you as we should for this indescribable gift. We can all feel how true this is: for me, unworthy me, God, the Lord of love and glory, the center of the universe, the jewel of heaven, died a villain’s death for me! Lord we shall always be amazed at it; we shall always feel we can never comprehend the height of this.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œYou are good, and you do what is good; teach me your statutes.ā€ (Psalm 119:68)

God is essential goodness in himself and in every attribute of his nature he is good in the fullest sense of the term; indeed, he has a monopoly of goodness, for there is no one good but God. His acts are according to his nature; he displays himself by his works, he is actively generous, he does good. No tongue can tell how much good he does! No heart can conceive how good he is!

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Bonan of China.

Jesus has authority over ā€œevery people, nation, and languageā€ (Daniel 7:14). His reign as king is not being acknowledged by the Bonan — this is a tragedy that we need to be deeply concerned about.

Pray that God would be glorified among the Bonan.

LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
