DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Jesus, once the dying Savior, but now risen and ascended, will you not look after us? We do believe that you can save. You are very God of very God; there is nothing impossible with you. Here on your cross we hang; into your hands we commend our spirits without reserve. We have no hope but in you. We believe that you are mighty to save, and that you can save us, even us. Let each man say—“Even me; even me,” and may there be, in every individual, a distinct and personal putting himself into the hands of the great savior, by an act of simple faith. “Lord save me, or I perish.” “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” Let this be the prayer of each heart this morning.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; for they did not love their lives to the point of death.” (Revelation 12:11)

The death of the Son of God is the grand fact set forth by the words “the blood of the Lamb.” The death of Christ is the death of sin and the defeat of Satan; therefore, it is the life of our hope and the assurance of Christ’s victory. We are to regard Satan as already literally and truly overcome through the death of the Lord Jesus. He is a vanquished enemy. By faith, let us grasp our Lord’s victory as our own since he triumphed in our nature and on our behalf. The voice of the dragon has been silenced by the blood of the Lamb.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Tai Khang of China and Laos.

On the last day, “Many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of Armies in Jerusalem and to plead for the LORD’s favor” (Zechariah 8:22). The Tai Khang cannot seek the Lord today because they have never heard of him.

Pray that the gospel would reach the Tai Khang for the first time.
