DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Take us, Lord, and sanctify us. We are not content with justification; we want sanctification. Make and keep us pure within, clean in motive, clean in imagination. This is a difficult work! Make us so that our very thoughts shall be a matter of conscience and every thought shall be brought into captivity to Jesus Christ our Lord. We long to live as angels do here in this mortal body, living as purely, as joyfully, as obediently, as they do; not bound by the flesh nor kept in subjection to any of its appetites but made free to be the servants of God with enhanced delight.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“For this is God’s will, your sanctification: that you keep away from sexual immorality,” (1 Thessalonians 4:3)

Many desire to be filled with the knowledge of the Lord’s will so as to do it without fail. May you be filled with the knowledge of the Lord’s will until you know what sanctification means and exhibit it in your daily life! It is yours to teach men what God means by holiness. Your mission is not fulfilled and the will of God is not accomplished unless you are sanctified. This is what we need to be filled.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Yoruk of Turkey.

This ethnic group of 475,000 Muslims has no Christians among them. There is no Bible in their language or churches in their area. They will never hear the gospel unless someone brings it from the outside.

Pray that God would send missionaries to the Yoruk of Turkey.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

THREE DAYS LEFT: Save on this awesome new evangelism resource*

I’ve shared several times about Somethingism by Luke Cawley, a new book that builds on our shared knowledge of “something out there” all the way up to the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

This book is persuasive without being heavy-handed.

It is reasonable without being boring.

It is beautiful without being soft on sin.

It’s really an incredible resource. Reading Somethingism really encouraged me and strengthened my faith. I believe that God will use this book in mighty ways in the lives of your non-Christian friends and family too. I hope you’ll grab two copies today (one for you, one for a non-Christian friend) and see what God does!
