DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Come, Holy Spirit, we do know you; you have often overshadowed us. Come, take possession of us more fully. As we stand before you now, we feel as if we are right up at the mercy seat; our very highest prayer is for perfect holiness, complete consecration, entire cleansing from every evil. Take our heart, our head, our hands, our feet, and use us all for yourself. Lord take our substance, let us not hoard it for ourselves, nor spend it for ourselves. Take our talent, let us not try to educate ourselves so that we may have the reputation of being wise, but let every gain of mental attainment be still that we may serve you better.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
We have a Friend at court; our Bridegroom is on the throne. He who reigns in heaven loves us better than we love ourselves. Come, then, why should we hesitate, wherefore should we delay our approach to his throne of mercy? What is it that we want at this moment? Let us ask for it. If it is a time of need, then we see clearly from this verse that it is a time when we are permitted and encouraged to pray.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Harzani of Iran.
Iran has been in the news lately. That country’s greatest need is the gospel. Iran is home to more than 10 million people who live in ethnic groups, like the Harzani, that have never heard the gospel. These are not people who have rejected the gospel — but people who have never heard it.
Pray that peace would come to Iran so that the gospel can spread.

TODAY IS THE DAY!
Today is the official release date for Sex and Self-Forgetfulness, my first book. I’ve been anticipating this day for a long time.
I think this book is really important, so I really hope that you (and many others) would order and read it. But I want to ask you to do something more important today: Would you join me in praying for this effort?
Pray that this book will help couples communicate about sex in a more unifying and fruitful way.
Pray that this book will help pastors address sex from the pulpit and the counseling room in a more holistically helpful way.
Pray that this book will help the church become more joyful and mutual in the way that we talk about sex.
Pray that the book would be healing, not harmful, to victims of all forms of sexual suffering.
Pray that the book would be convicting for sexual sinners (especially spouses who have allowed one-sided sex to persist in their marriage).
Pray that this book will help the culture become a little bit less confused about sex.
I offer this book to Christ, to whom it is dedicated. May he do with it whatever he pleases.
