DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Let the kingdom of Jesus Christ spread in all countries. Let your kingdom come, great God, yes, let it come quickly. It does not trouble us to think that Christ shall come; it is indeed our joy. Do not delay, oh our Lord! But make us watchful, earnest, and active while we wait. May we be like good servants, who are dressed and ready, and whose lamps are trimmed. May we wait for the Master until he comes. Now give a blessing this morning, we come back to that prayer of ours, a blessing to each one. Bless me, even me, also, oh my Father! The prayer is offered in the name of Jesus Christ the Mediator.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” (Colossians 3:4)

You are hidden now, your life is veiled in him; but at his second coming he shall shine forth in all his glory, and “then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.” Beloved, seek no greatness here; ask not for any exaltation of yourself among the sons of men; but wait for your true manifestation with Christ in glory.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Rawas of Indonesia.

The Bible has never been translated into the Rawas’ language, Musi. Translating the Bible into this language will be a long, difficult task; but it is worth it.

Pray that faithful Bible translators would bring God’s word into Musi.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

God’s transforming love at work*

Everyone of us will be led away from God UNLESS God’s transforming love is at work in us, but praise be to God that, if you are a Christian, his love IS at work in you! No matter what sin you’re struggling with, The God of every grace can set you free.

We don’t need to hide in shame about ANY sin when God’s grace gives us so much hope, including sexual sins of any kind.

If you’re a Christian woman struggling with sexual sin, you aren’t alone. You need to take this sin seriously and seek real growth. A fantastic resource to help you (and your accountability partners!) is a new video course from Harvest USA called Transforming Love.

This FREE discipleship course will help you fight for purity by looking to God’s transforming grace.

This isn’t a shame-filled lecture about how dangerous sexual sin is — it’s a grace-based, hope-fueled study on how God’s transforming love is at work, even in the darkest parts of your life.

Here’s what to look forward to

  • Six 30-minute video sessions.

  • Includes a free downloadable participant’s guide

  • Teaching WHY we sin (so that we can pursue long-term change), not just stopping sinful behavior.

  • Use it in a group, one-on-one, or on your own

  • Remember the transforming love of Jesus in your darkest sin and suffering.

The included participant’s guide will help you apply each session or discuss it with a group.

This course is an important resource to help you find victory by grace in the race for holiness. I can’t wait to hear how God uses it in your life!

LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON

“Christ will as certainly be here again in glory as he once was here in shame, for he has promised to return.” — Charles Spurgeon
