DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Dear Savior, will wash us and not only take away the guilt of sin, but the power of it too— so that from now on we may treat you better; that holiness, true reverence, and hearty loyalty may be our service all our days. Oh you, who did hang naked on the cross, we pray, we beg, take our whole body, soul, and spirit, and dwell in it and reign over it, and get glory from it, while we live and when we die, and when we rise again, and to eternity.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus… he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:5, 8)
Paul wishes to unite the saints in Philippi in the holy bands of love. To do this, he takes them to the cross. In the cross there is a cure for every spiritual disease. There is food for every spiritual virtue in the Savior. We never go to him too often.

Walking with Jesus to the Cross
It is important to understand the theology of the cross, but it’s just as important to understand the events of the cross — what was actually happening in the final week leading up to the death of Christ? What was Jesus thinking and doing when he knew he was days and hours away from his own execution?
The Final Days of Jesus by Andreas J. Kostenberger, Justin Taylor and Alexander Stewart will put you right into the scene and help you walk, day-by-day, through Jesus’ last week in Jerusalem with biblical faithfulness and vivid clarity.
This book will help you remember that the cross is a real historic event, not just a story. I know it will encourage you this summer.
