DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
We thought once we were humble; but we soon found that our pride will feed on any flattery that is brought to us. Oh, this evil heart of ours! It has enough tinder in it to set all of nature on fire. If a spark were to only fall into it, any one of our members left to itself would dishonor Christ, deny the Lord that bought us.
We are altogether ashamed. For your love for us has silenced us, that great love has hidden boasting from us; your great love, with which you loved us even when we were dead in trespasses and sins; your great love with which you loved us still, despite our ill manners, our wanderings, our shortcomings, and our excesses.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave…” (Matthew 20:27)
The way to rise is to sink self; the lower we fall in our own esteem, the higher shall we rise in our Master’s estimation. To rise in Christ’s kingdom we must descend. He who would be chief, or first, among saints, must be their servant, bondsman, or slave. The lower we have stooped, the higher we have risen.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Bajgi of India.
One day, all “the nations will fear the name of the LORD” (Psalm 102:15), but this is not the reality yet.
Pray that the Bajdi would hear the hope of Christ and believe in his name.

LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
