DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

There is no limit to your goodness, your riches are unsearchable. You have all good things within the compass of yourself, and you have given yourself to us according to your word, ā€œI will be their God, and they shall be my people.ā€ We bless the Lord that our heritage is never exhausted. The world has its winter, but you have none. Even the world’s sun has its wintry times and we see but little above the horizon, but you are always a summer’s sun into your people, without variation or shadow from turning.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œFor the LORD is good, and his faithful love endures forever; his faithfulness, through all generations.ā€ (Psalm 100:5)

This sums up his character and contains countless reasons for praise. He is good, gracious, kind, bountiful, loving; yes, God is love. He who does not praise the good is not good himself. The kind of praise in this psalm, praise filled with joy and gladness, is most fittingly urged upon us by an argument from the goodness of God. Our heart leaps for joy as we bow before One who has never broken his word or changed his purpose.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Bonan of China.

New regulations were passed in Chain last month that forbid foreign Christians from preaching or evangelizing. We must obey God rather than men.

Pray that missionaries would find creative ways to enter China to spread the gospel.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

My favorite new kids’ series keeps on cooking!

I’ve written before about how much my family has been loving a new series of Lift-the-Flap board books from The Good Book Company. The Training Young Hearts series by Abbey Wedgeworth encourages toddlers to use their bodies to serve others and honor God.

Each book focuses on a different body part and how we can use that to honor God. They all end by pointing kids to Jesus and showing how he perfectly honored God with his body so that we could be saved.

The books are really fun — my littles (1, 3, and 6 years) are HOOKED! I usually despise lift-the-flap books, because the flaps get ripped off in a few seconds. But Training Young Hearts books are so high quality and durable.

I was really excited to receive a copy of the latest book in the series, What are Feelings For?, and it doesn’t disappoint! While this is a bit of a new direction for the series, it’s still so faithful and trustworthy. I’m continually surprised at how often these books lead to solid conversations at home. I know you’ll love this series!

LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON

ā€œSin is a questioning of God’s goodness. It implies that he denied us something beneficial.ā€ — Charles Spurgeon
