DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
We have no merit, no claim, no righteousness of our own, so, dear Savior, we look up to you. We long for some to look for the first time and those of us that have long looked would fix our happy gaze again upon that blessed substitutionary sacrifice where all our hope lies. Dear Savior, we do take you to be everything to us: our sin-bearer and our sin-destroyer. We do not have a shadow of a shade of hope anywhere but in you; your life, your death, your resurrection, your ascension, your glory, your reign, your second coming; these are the only stars in our sky.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when he appears, we will be like him because we will see him as he is.” (1 John 3:2)
It is quite certain that Christ will appear. John does not stop to prove it. He speaks of it as though it were perfectly understood that Christ would again appear, and he mentions what is to be the nature of that appearing. When he comes, he will appear in his glory—not as the man of Nazareth, to be despised and spat upon, but as the “Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Rawas of Indonesia.
The Rawas are very open to outsiders, but missionaries have never brought the gospel to them.
Pray that missionaries would go to the Rawas very soon.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
Freedom from shame (and sin!)*
No matter what sin you’re struggling with — God has not left you to figure it out on your own. His merciful, transforming love is at work to bring you out of sin with his tender hand.
Unfortunately, Christian women often allow shame to prevent them from dealing with sin openly and honestly. That’s why we need grace-saturated resources that can help us remember God’s love and seek change in light of it.
That’s the point of a new video course from my friends at Harvest USA, Transforming Love. This six session course unpacks a fully-formed, biblical picture of where sexual sin comes from so that you can seek long-term change and purity by grace.
Here’s three ways you could use this course:
On Your Own — Dive deep into God’s word and seek real change.
One-on-One — Help others see God’s plan for purity and cultivate real accountability.
In a Group — Use the free participant’s guide to launch honest discussion and personal application.
The six 30-minute video sessions are packed with biblical insight and clear application. This course is a valuable tool in your battle for purity. I can’t wait to hear about how God uses it in your life.
LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
“Jesus is coming again. In the same manner as he ascended he will return—that is, really, literally, and in bodily form.” — Charles Spurgeon
