DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Help us. Spirit of the living God, continue to work painfully in us. Let the groanings that cannot be uttered be still within our Spirit, for these are growing pains and we shall grow while we sigh and cry, while we can confess and mourn; yet this is not without a blessed hopefulness that he who has begun a good work in us will perfect it in the day of Christ.
Remember all people, especially the poor, the widows and the fatherless, and any that are depressed in spirit, whose depression tends to the failure of reason. Lord, restore them, and any who are dying. Lord, let them not die without hope, and may your believing people learn to pass away without even tasting the bitterness of death. May they enter into rest, each one walking in his own uprightness.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
The Lord is not only a builder, but a healer. He restores broken hearts as well as broken walls. The kings of the earth try to become great through their loftiness; but the Lord becomes truly great by his condescension. Behold, the Most High cares for the sick and the sorry, the wretched and the wounded! He walks the hospitals as the good physician! His deep sympathy with mourners is a special mark of his goodness. Few will associate with the despondent, but the Lord chooses their company and abides with them until he has healed them by his comforts.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Mubi of Chad.
God has promised, “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth. For I am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:22). Who will bring this invitation to turn and live to the Mubi?
Pray that God would send missionaries to the Mubi soon.
