DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

As we are now making intercession we would, according to your Word, pray for all kings, such as are in authority, that we may lead quiet and peaceable lives. We pray for all nations. Oh Lord, bless and remember the lands that sit in darkness, and let them see a great light, and may missionary enterprise be abundantly successful.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Stop fighting, and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.” (Psalm 46:10)

Though they forget God and worship idols, the Lord will yet be honored by all nations. Reader, the prospects of missions are bright—bright as the promises of God. Let no one's heart grow faint. The solemn declarations of this verse will undoubtedly be fulfilled. "I will be exalted in the earth," among all peoples, no matter their wickedness or degradation. Through either terror or love, God will subdue all hearts to himself. The entire earth will ultimately reflect the brilliance of his majesty. All the more, in the face of sin, obstinacy, and pride.

What is God’s will for your life?

This week, we have been praying about missions and God’s heart for all nations. At the end of this week, you might be left with an important question: “What role can I play in all of this?”

It’s an important question that we should think seriously about. A resource that I’ve been using in my church recently is a simple Bible study that helps every Christian see that God has an important part for them to play in his plan for the world. It’s called Explore the World Christian Lifestyle and it’s available as a free PDF or a paperback.

If you’re feeling stuck, directionless, or unsure what God is calling you to do, this simple Bible study is a great tool to help you learn.
