DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Father, bless those who do not know you. We pray that we may have in our own hearts much of the heaviness that Paul knew, when we think of the many ungodly ones, especially of those that are of our own family, such as have heard the gospel from their very childhood. Oh, bring them in!

Dear Father, there are many of us praying now from the bottom of our hearts, that all our children may be your children and that all related to us may be of the family of Christ. Then, Lord, we thank you for that blessed word, “The promise is for you, and your children;” but you did not stop there, for you have said, “and to them that are afar off, even to as many as the Lord our God shall call.” Lord, bring in the far-off ones. Save poor fallen women, save the equally fallen men.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons born in one’s youth.” (Psalm 127:4)

In the case of an arrow, it all depends which way you shoot it. Mind, therefore, that you direct your children rightly; give them a good start, a true aim from the very first, God helping you, and then they shall fly from you like the arrows of a mighty archer.
