DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Look down upon the great assemblies of this morning all over the world and let your eye of tenderness rest here. You see here many who love you, may we love you more! You see many who live by the life of God—oh, life of God, live in us to the full! You see also, we fear, some who are declining from your ways, in whom grace is but a flickering light. Lord, trim the lamps; bring back the wanderers; for there is no joy but in God. By bonds that never can be snapped, we are one with Him, and who shall separate us from his love?

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Jesus answered, ‘If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.’” (John 14:23)

Christ is sure to reveal himself to those who love him, but how can he manifest himself to those who love him not? They cannot see him; they would not appreciate him if they could see him, they have no spiritual taste with which to enjoy him.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Razihi of Yemen.

The Razihi have a lot of urgent needs. They are farmers trying to grow crops and livestock in a dry climate. More than half of Yemen lives in poverty. But the most urgent need of the Razihi is to hear of the unsearchable riches of Christ.

Pray that the Razihi would hear about Jesus for the first time.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

Stop living for superficial joys — find true peace in God.

As we’re praying this week, asking God to increase our love for himself, I’m reminded that we were created, not to build our own Kingdom, but to seek God’s. And it’s only when we live for THAT Kingdom, that we really start to live.

Recently, I’ve been really helped (and challenged) while reading A Quest for More: Living for Something Bigger than You by Paul Tripp. This book will invite you to live an incredible life, serving alongside Jesus, that will set you free from worry, legalism, and more.

Serving God isn’t about giving up your freedom — it’s about being set free to live the amazing purpose that God has for you.

This is an incredible life-giving book that will fill you with desire to know God and serve him with your all.

I hope you’ll buy a copy and read it.
