DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Lord, purge us with hyssop and we shall be clean; wash us and we shall be whiter than snow. We confess our transgressions and our iniquity we would not hide; but we look again to the great sacrifice. Our eyes are on the Lamb that was slain, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. You know, Father, that all our hope is here, and this is our joy, that though we walk in the light, as God is in the light, and have fellowship with you, yet still for every offense that comes, the blood of Jesus Christ your Son cleanses us from all sin.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
âThe next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, âLook, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!ââ (John 1:29)
If Christ had not been sent by God to be the Savior of sinners, our faith would have no firm foundation to rest on. But as God himself has set forth Christ to be the propitiation for human guilt, then he cannot reject the sinner who accepts that propitiation.
It is âthe Lamb of Godâ we must look to. It is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died on Calvary, âthe righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to Godâ (1 Peter 3:18). God appointed him to die as the substitute for sinners. God accepted this sacrifice when he died and now the Lord himself, speaking from his throne of glory, says to the sinner, âBelieve in my Son, whom I have set forth as the propitiation for human sin. Trust in him and you will be eternally saved.â
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, weâre praying for the Faifi of Saudi Arabia.
The Faifi are geographically isolated. Going to them will be difficult, but God is all-sufficient.
Pray that God would sustain the missionaries he will send to the Faifi.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
Men, pay attention to your wife
A lot of men have no idea what challenges, burdens, and worries their wives experience every day. They arenât serving their wives well, because they have no idea whatâs going on in their wivesâ lives beyond a surface level.
Thatâs why I created The God Centered Husband One-Year Journal, a simple, hands-on resource to help men pursue God and their wives.
The core of the journal is 52 weekly page templates to take inventory of your marriage each week. These prompts will encourage you to consider your wife, her burdens, and how you can serve her.
If you want to grow as a husband in the new year, I hope youâll grab a copy today.
This journal (as well as a unique edition for wives) is available on Amazon:
