DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

May any who are anxious, but are missing the mark, looking to themselves instead of to Christ, learn the way of life and run in it. Save them. God, allow us to intercede with you for our unconverted friends. Help us to feel great sorrow and heaviness of heart for those who are currently far off from God. Lord, bring them in. Oh God, awaken the careless and frivolous who have never given any solemn consideration to the matters of their soul. May they be awakened and aroused today; and while we share the way of salvation by grace, may they feel their need for it and be willing to accept it. May the Lord save them today.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“… keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2)

Look to Jesus and turn the look away from everything else. Do not fix your gaze on the cloud of witnesses; they will hinder you if they take away your eye from Jesus. Do not look at the weights and the besetting sin—these you have laid aside; look away from them. Do not even look at the racecourse, or the competitors, but look to Jesus and so start in the race.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Tumari Kanuri of Niger.

The Tumari Kanuri are almost entirely Muslim. Their religion is a central part of their identity.

Pray that God would set the Tumari Kanuri free from the lies of Islam.
