DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

We pray for some of your own people who seem to be doing very little for you. Lord, have mercy upon those whose strength runs towards the world and who give little of their strength to the spread of the gospel and the winning of souls.

Let none of us fritter away our existence. May we begin to live since Christ has died; may we believe that because he died, we died to all the world, and because he lives, we live in the newness of life. Lord, we thank you for that newness of life

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œA generation goes and a generation comes, but the earth remains forever.ā€ (Ecclesiastes 1:4)

Humanity is only vapor. We appear for a little while and then vanish away. We are as thin and airy and insubstantial as our own breath. We come and we go—we are here such a little while that we can scarcely be said to be, for we only just began to exist when we close our being so far as this world is concerned.

We do not know what is best for us—not even in temporal things, much less in spiritual things. Which is better for someone in this life—wealth or poverty, health or sickness, fame or obscurity? It all depends on being where God puts us. We had better be content to remain just as we are and be satisfied and thankful to be where God has placed us in his providence. Who knows what is good for us? God does, and that is better than for us to know.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Abaza of Russia.

As Muslims, the Abaza believe that they can earn eternal life by keeping the five pillars. They do not know the hope of Christ.

Pray that the Abaza would finally hear the gospel and embrace it.

Hope for Sexually Betrayed Wives*

As a pastor, I’ve counseled many women through a wide variety of marital betrayals. Here’s what I’ve learned: This is one of the most challenging things any person will face.

The path of recovery (for the betrayed spouse) is rarely the same and never easy. There are difficult realities to grapple with, impossible decisions to make, and unparalleled pain to process.

And I know that the next time this kind of situation shows up in my ministry, I’m going to send her Hope in Your Heartbreak. This is a free video course for betrayed wives that steps into the mess with the powerful grace of the gospel.

The course tackled tough topics in a way that reflects God’s mercy and compassion for the betrayed, aiming to show suffering people that Jesus is at work, even now. The six sessions are taught by Ellen Mary Dykas and Caitlin McCaffrey, who represent over twenty years of experience of walking with wives from the revelation of sexual betrayal, toward healing through Christ and wisdom for how to walk forward.

If you’re navigating marital betrayal (or helping others do so), I highly recommend you reserve your spot in this free self-paced online course.
