DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
How shall your elect be kept from Satanās deceptions except by abiding in the truth and walking in the power of the Holy Spirit? Oh, revive your church in this respect, we pray! Give to those who know you a more intense faith in the eternal truths, burning into us by experience the things which we do know; may they be beyond all question to us. And may we never be ashamed to glory in the good old way, the way the fathers trod, the way which leads to heaven and to God.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
āBy faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was approved as a righteous man, because God approved his gifts, and even though he is dead, he still speaks through his faith.ā (Hebrews 11:4)
There is nothing that God calls us to do but faith can enable us to accomplish it. In Abelās case, we see that faith is grand at worshiping. Faith brings a right sacrifice, brings it in the right way, and speaks even after she is dead, for the blood of Abel cried out of the ground. Oh, that all of us might so live that, even out of our graves, there might come a voice speaking for God! If, like his, your life is to be a speaking lifeāa life that will speak even out of the graveāits voice must be the voice of faith.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, weāre praying for the Jiiddo in Somalia.
As Muslims, the Jiiddo have never heard the truth about Jesus; they have only heard the lies told about him in the Qurāan.
Pray that the Jiiddo would hear the truth of Jesus and believe in him.

Christmas Gift Idea for Toddlers: Very Best Bible Stories
As a dad of three, I love Tim Thornboroughās series of Bible story picture books, Very Best Bible Stories. These books are so engaging. The illustrations are packed with details that leave everyone (even the parents) admiring the details and laughing at the visual gags. The story-telling is repetitive in an age-appropriate way (without leaving parents bored out of their minds). These are really fun, engaging books that help your kids know the Bible.
The latest book in this series, Joshua and the Very Strong City is available for pre-order now. I was thankful to receive a review copy and, trust me, it doesnāt disappoint. Your kids will love to read (and SHOUT!) when they open this book on Christmas. You can also prepare them for Christmas with A Very Noisy Christmas, which is one of my favorite picture books about the birth of Jesus.
