DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

All honor and glory be unto him who stood foot to foot with the archenemy, but who was never wounded by him; the prince of this world came, but there was nothing sinful in you, Jesus, no tendency to sin, no turning aside; but you won from the first, even to the last, a glorious victory over this dreaded adversary of humanity. We see you now clothed in your robe dipped with blood, victorious over all of your foes. Our spirit triumphs in the anticipation of the time, when all your enemies shall be destroyed and death and hell shall be cast into the lake of fire, and God shall be all in all.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“… keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2)

Look to Jesus — what a runner in the race was he! And what a race he ran! While we see him at the end of the course, holding out the crown, let us remember that he knows all the trials of the way, knows what pressure must be put upon ourselves before we can reach the mark.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Manga Kanuri of Nigeria.

The Bible is being translated into the Manga Kanuri language for the first time. Bible translation is a long and difficult process. Some missionaries try to find shortcuts to make the process quicker but compromise faithfulness.

Pray that the Bible translators would do their work with wisdom, diligence, and faithfulness to Christ alone, trusting him with the results.
