DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

If you wash my feet, Lord, then there cannot be any filth on them. Do you wash my feet? Then they must be clean. It cannot be that filth remains after you wash. When things are washed by careless servants, they want washing again; but when they are washed by the loving hands of Jesus, washed by you who made heaven and earth, surely they cannot be badly done.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œā€˜You will never wash my feet,’ Peter said. Jesus replied, ā€˜If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.ā€™ā€ (John 13:8)

The moment your name is mentioned there are some ready at once to slander you and abuse you; yet so tenderly does Jesus love you, that he washes your foulest part. However, I must leave you to think—for I cannot talk—I must leave you to think on such a precious passage as this. Certainly the angels of heaven will never leave off wondering however it can be, that their King, their Prince, their Leader, could, so humble himself as to become a servant of servants—to take the very meanest of his people, and declare that he will wash their feet, aye, and do it too.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Tagale of Sudan.

The Tagale have likely never heard the truth of Jesus.

Pray that Arabic Bible resources could be distributed throughout Sudan and to the Tagale.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

A new book to give your family a global vision

Recently, my family has been LOVING Tim Challies’ new picture book, God’s Great Big Global Church. I was thankful to receive a copy before the book releases next week. This book tells the stories of Christian kids around the world to introduce kids to important themes like persecution, diversity, missions, and God’s global grandeur in an accessible way.

This book is packed with information about the countries (from animal facts to famous landmarks) that has my kids constantly asking for ā€œjust one more page.ā€

I’m so thankful for this book and I know that you will love it too.
