🛐 Daily Prayer: "Jesus said ‘It is finished.’"

Pray with Spurgeon

Daily Newsletter from SpurgeonBooks

Thanks for praying with us this week. We’ll be back on Monday.

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Oh Jesus, you will bring your Israel out of Egypt and not a hoof shall be left behind; no, not a bone, nor a piece of your elect shall be left in the hands of the adversary. We shall come out clean, delivered by him who does nothing by halves and who said on the cross, “It is finished;” who much more will say it on his throne, “Glory be to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;” who has lifted us up from our ruin and condemnation, and made us new creatures, and justified us, and guaranteed us eternal life, which eternal life shall be revealed at the coming of the Lord. All glory be to his ever blessed name forever and ever!

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.” (James 2:24)

Faith alone justifies, but not a faith which is alone and without works. In any and every case suitable works come with saving faith, and it is foolish to claim to be saved by faith, unless our lives are holy.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Jat of Pakistan.

Jesus came so that “The nations will put their hope in his name” (Matthew 12:21). The Jat are an entire nation where few (if any) have put their hope in the name of Jesus.

Pray that Jesus would be glorified among the Jat — he is worthy of it!
