DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Blessed one, who came from heaven to earth to bleed and die! What can our hearts say? What can our souls render? Our eyes are better than our lips in this adoration, for we can weep to the praise of the mercy which we see in the bleeding Son of God; but still at the foot of the throne we will worship him who lives forever. All glory be to our creator, preserver, redeemer, and comforter. It is he who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. We worship and bow down; we kneel before the Lord our maker, in the reverence of our hearts. All honor and glory and power and dominion be to him who sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb forever and ever!

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.” (Psalm 103:19)

His throne is fixed, for that is the word; it is established, settled, immovable. About his government there is no alarm, no disorder, no disturbances, no hurrying to and fro in expedients, no surprises to be met or unexpected catastrophes to be warded off—all is prepared and fixed, and he himself has prepared and fixed it. He is no delegated sovereign for whom a throne is set up by another; his dominion arises from himself and is sustained by his own innate power. This matchless sovereignty is the pledge of our security, the pillar upon which our confidence may safely lean.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Harzani of Iran.

The Harzani are Muslims. They believe that they can earn eternal life by keeping the five pillars of Islam. If they have heard of Jesus, they have only heard the lies that the Qur’an tells about him.

Pray that Christian missionaries would carry the true good news of Jesus to the Harzani.
