DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Wherever there are wars and strife, let them cease when the end is answered. Let slavery’s chains be broken; let liberty reign everywhere. Let the return of Christ soon arrive. Let the idols be dashed in pieces; let all false foundations be razed to the ground, and may he come whose right it is to reign.
Oh Jesus, the world has waited long and we have heard the word which said, “A ruin, a ruin, I will make it a ruin” (Ezekiel 21:27); but when will you stop the ruin to establish the righteous things and to cast down all evil? When will you come to be King of kings and Lord of lords? And now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, our savior, be glory forever and ever, for Jesus Christ’s sake.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. So it is to be. Amen.” (Revelation 1:7)
This is a grand doctrine, which should never be kept in the background. The Scriptures are not fully to be understood, except with this addition; they are not, indeed, complete unless we understand that there is something yet to come. The Old Testament without the first coming of Christ is a riddle without a key, and the New Testament without the second coming of Christ is somewhat in the same condition.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Rawas of Indonesia.
This ethnic group (total population: 235,000) has never heard of Jesus. The problem is not that they have rejected the gospel, but they have never heard it. They have never met a Christian, seen a church, or had access to the gospel.
Pray that God would send missionaries to the Rawas.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
FINALLY: A discipleship course that helps women get honest about sexual sin, while finding real restoration from the grace of Jesus.*
Sexual purity isn’t about “saving yourself” for your husband; it’s about BEING SAVED by Jesus from the sin that so easily ensnares us.
Often, when we talk about sexual sin, we seem to forget everything we believe about God’s grace. Thankfully, God’s grace is still at work, even in the darkest moments of our foulest sins.
If you’re a woman struggling with sexual sin, I know a great resource to help you in the fight. It’s a free video series/discipleship course called Transforming Love.
It’s all about remembering God’s grace, even in our worst sin and most tragic suffering, and moving forward with the strength grace supplies.
This course will offer you first steps towards heart-transforming long-term change, not just short-term behavior modification, by understanding where sin/behavior comes from (the heart).
Here’s what to look forward to…
Six 30-minute video sessions.
Includes a free downloadable participant’s guide
Teaching WHY we sin (so that we can pursue long-term change), not just stopping sinful behavior.
Use it in a group, one-on-one, or on your own
Remember the transforming love of Jesus in your darkest sin and suffering.
This course is REALLY powerful and it’s 100% free for you!
(And If you’re a woman who does NOT struggle with sexual sin, maybe invite women in your church to go through the course with you. Just imagine what God will do as you create a safe space for women to be honest and experience grace together.)
