DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Oh that the time would come that is set for your advent, when the hidden shall be revealed and the church of God shall no longer need her wings with which to fly, but shall come forth in all the glory with which your love arrays her, clothed with the sun and with the moon beneath her feet. Glory, honor, majesty, power, dominion, and might, be unto him who sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb forever and ever!
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.” (Matthew 25:31–32)
There will be only two companies, one on the right hand of the Judge, and the other on his left. The Lord Jesus Christ “shall judge the living and the dead at his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:1); and all who will be summoned before his serious tribunal will be either alive from the dead or still dead in trespasses and sins. There will be no middle company on that day, as in God’s sight there is no third class even now. All our names are either in the Lamb’s Book of Life or in the Judge’s Book of Death.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Rawas of Indonesia.
While Indonesia’s constitution guarantees freedom of religion, in practice, the government seeks to control non-Muslim people and organizations (including Christian churches and missionaries) with regulations, “blasphemy” laws, and more.
Pray that the gospel would advance in these unlikely circumstances.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
Preparing your kids for the return of Christ
Parents have a responsibility (and a HUGE desire) to see our kids counted among the sheep, not the goats, on the last day. While this isn’t something that we can control, God has called us to clearly teach our kids about Christ before he returns.
Almost every Christian parent wants to teach our kids, but a lot of families fail to plan and don’t take any action to teach. Christ is coming back soon, so this task is urgent. Let’s not just talk about it — let’s do it.
To help you get started, I’ve been creating a series of family devotionals that cover every book of the Bible. This is a great resource to help you give your kids an overview of all of Scripture along with a deep, daily foundation built on Jesus.
LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
