Jesus cleans our hearts, body, and souls

šŸ› Daily Prayer: "Lord, will you take the worst part of me, and wash that? I know you have said that you will sanctify my spirit and my soul—there is much there; but will you sanctify my body too"

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Lord, do you wash my feet? To wash my head, Lord, is very gracious; to purge my mind from evil thoughts is very loving; to wash my hands, to take my heart and make that clean is very condescending; but do you really do a slave’s work, and wash my feet? Lord, will you take the worst part of me, and wash that? I know you have said that you will sanctify my spirit and my soul—there is much there; and you sanctify my body too—my feet, the lowest part of the man, the worst part. Are you not content to leave any spot or wrinkle upon me anywhere, and therefore do you humble yourself to the basest, lowest action of all, to wash my feet? Truly, this is a subject of wonder.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œInstead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.ā€ (Philippians 2:7–8)

Let us lift up our eyes and wonder; let us lift up our voices and praise his name, that he should ever wash our feet. And yet the wonder is excelled if you remember that he shared a slave’s death, as well as a slave’s life: a slave’s life—when he washed our feet; a slave’s death—when they sold him for thirty pieces of silver, and afterwards pierced his hands and his feet. I put this deed of love in contrast.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Tagale of Sudan.

Over the last 100 years, the Tagale have become ā€œArabized,ā€ inheriting some good and bad from Arabic culture, including Islam. It is tragic that the lies of Islam have spread faster than the truth to tribes like the Tagale.

Pray that the real Jesus would be known and worshiped among the Tagale soon.

A Unique Bible Study for Women*

Let’s face it: a lot of resources on sexual sin and purity for women are… not great.

But my friends at Harvest USA have put together a valuable resource for women struggling with sexual sin or discipling someone who is.

This study is unique for three reasons:

  1. It is solid, biblical counsel from beginning to end (there is no fluff or condescending illustrations.)

  2. It actually encourages honesty about sexual sin (this isn’t an issue for guys only.)

  3. It will point you to the biblical model for REAL change (not just behavior modification and internet filters)

You can go through this study alone, one-on-one, or with a small group of women. I can’t wait to hear about how he uses this free Bible study to help you along your journey.

LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
