DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Lord, forgive us that death in life, in which so many of our years were spent, when we found something in the world apart from you and were content with the things of the hour, the vile shadows, transient gusts of things which truly are not, for you alone are all in all.
We have repented through your grace, most bitterly of that time of death in which we tried to live; and now, you have given us to see our pardon in the wounds of Jesus, and our soul puts her trust in him. God incarnate is the ground of our hope that we are accepted and forgiven, notwithstanding that previous life of ours.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
āThis will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped tightly in cloth and lying in a manger.ā (Luke 2:12)
Not in marble halls, wrapped in purple and fine linen, and welcomed by the great and mighty of earth; nay, this greatest of all princes is born amid the poverty of our ordinary manhood. He is one chosen out of the people, the peopleās savior, and a manger receives the peopleās King.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, weāre praying for the Kakabe of Guinea.
The Kakabe are Muslims but they also worship tribal spirits. Some of their worship involves inflicting pain on themselves to prove their bravery to the spirits.
Pray that the Kakabe would hear the good news of Jesus that sets them free from all fear.
