DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

As you have revealed yourself in Christ Jesus, you have now become to your people the object of inexpressible delight. You have called us to delight in you, promising to give us the desire of our hearts. We trust we can, many of us, truly say that you are our exceeding joy; the thought of God does bring exceeding pleasure to our soul. Our soul exults in her God; he is our God and we will extol him, he is our fathers’ God and we will glorify him.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œYou have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and new wine abound.ā€ (Psalm 4:7)

When God puts gladness in the heart, it is real gladness, for God is not the giver of a sham joy; and it is lasting gladness, for God does not give temporary gifts. He compares his joy with the gladness of the sons of men, and he says that his joy was greater than theirs when their earthly stores were increased.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Imragen in Western Sahara.

Western Sahara is a disputed territory. While the conflict is currently most non-violent, residents of the region live with a degree of uncertainty.

Pray that God would maintain peace in the region and keep everyone safe.

Father’s Day Gift Idea

My friend Elizabeth at Sola Gratia always produces really beautiful, high quality products that proclaim the truth of Christ. This year, for Father’s Day, she’s launching some really cool, hand-made mugs that proclaim: ā€œFollow me as I follow Christ.ā€ This is a fantastic gift for any dad that you know — it isn’t just a cheap thing that will never get used, but a great reminder of what’s at stake in every day of fatherhood.

These mugs will release today at 11 a.m. ESTy and they will probably sell out quickly (her last set of mugs sold out within a few hours), so don’t hesitate — grab your mug today.

LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
