DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Oh Lord God, the strength and the hope of your people, we approach you through Jesus Christ your Son, with notes of thanksgiving; for we are not ashamed of our hope, neither has our confidence led us into confusion. We have proven it to be true, that those who trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion, which can never be moved, which abides forever. We trusted in you with regard to our innumerable sins, and you have cast them behind your back. We trusted in you when many evils surrounded us, and we were covered with temptation, and you brought us out into a wealthy place.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

ā€œWe always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. You have already heard about this hope in the word of truth, the gospelā€¦ā€ (Colossians 1:3ā€“5)

Three graces should be always evident in Christiansā€”faith, love, and hope. They are each mentioned by Paul in the opening verses of this epistle. These lovely graces should be so obvious in every believer as to be spoken of and heard of even by those who have never seen us. These flowers should yield so sweet a perfume that their fragrance may be perceived by those who have never gazed on them. So it was with the saints at Colossae.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, weā€™re praying for the Dabarre of Somalia.

The Dabarre are a group of 39,000 Muslims. They have never heard the message of Jesus so they cannot call upon him and be saved.

Pray that missionaries would go to the Dabarre of Somalia.

Godā€™s People Have Always Had an Easter Hope

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead isnā€™t just a great story for Easter ā€” it is the foundation of the Christianā€™s hope 365 days of the year. The hope for the defeat of death and resurrection from the grave has ALWAYS been the hope of Godā€™s peopleā€¦ even in the Old Testament!

A great book for seeing how this important theme unfolds throughout all of Scripture, check out the great book, Resurrection Hope and the Death of Death by Mitchell Chase. This is a powerful book that will help you understand the story of Scripture AND see how you can have hope, no matter what circumstances you face today.

I hope youā€™ll add it to your library today.
