Thanks for praying with us this week. We’ll be back on Monday.

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Lord, we thank you that we are your children by adoption. Father, help us to enjoy the sweet privileges which come to us through being introduced into your family. May we be among the number of those who dwell in your house forever and do not go out again; who must be still praising you, because they are always within the precincts of their great Father’s house.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy.” (Matthew 6:9)

This prayer begins where all true prayer must commence, with the spirit of adoption, “Our Father.” There is no acceptable prayer until we can say, “I will arise, and go unto my Father.” This childlike spirit soon perceives the grandeur of the Father “in heaven,” and ascends to devout adoration, “your name be honored as holy.” The child lisping, “Abba, Father,” grows into the cherub crying, “Holy, Holy, Holy.”

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Bilala of Chad.

The Apostle Paul said that this was his life goal: “let all the peoples praise him” (Romans 15:11). May the gospel spread to all nations. May every people group sing the praise of Jesus.

Pray that God would be praised by the Bilala.

IT’S BACK: The Spurgeon Commentary Series*

Spurgeon’s influence has persisted for decades. And there’s a reason why: His teaching was always rooted in the text, centered on Jesus, and packed with practical application.

And that’s why I’m so thankful that the Spurgeon Commentary Series is finally being revived after an 11-year hiatus.

This seven-volume set (including a new book on Jonah and the Song of Songs!) has been totally redesigned. (It’s back and better than ever!)

These books were crafted with so much care; Spurgeon’s writings on every phrase of certain biblical books were collected, updated with modern English, and arranged in a verse-by-verse commentary.

This resource is SO helpful for personal study (It’s packed with specific application from God’s Word) and worth its weight in gold for ministry (It offers Spurgeon’s ever-fresh insights in an accessible format).

I love the Spurgeon Commentary series and I know that you will too.
