DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
We must come before you with humble confession of sin. We are not worthy of the least of all your blessings; we are altogether unworthy, and your gifts are according to the riches of your grace, for which again we praise you.
For we confess that we are evil, evil in our original, and though renewed by sovereign grace your people cannot speak of being clean, or free from sin. There is sin which dwells in us which is our daily plague.
God, we humble ourselves before you. We ask that our faith may clearly perceive the blood of the atonement and the covering of the perfect righteousness of Christ; and may we come afresh, depending alone on Jesus. “I am the chief of sinners, but Jesus died for me.” May this be our one hope, that Jesus died and rose again, and that for his sake we are accepted in him.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience…” (Colossians 3:12)
Do not try to be a big man. He who thinks himself big has not yet learnt the true spirit of Christianity. Especially towards those who are sorrowful and sad, be pitiful, be kind, be humble.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Bajgi of India.
The Bajgi is a “scheduled caste,” giving them priority in government jobs and college admission. As Bajgi travel India, may they encounter Christians, be converted, and bring the gospel to their home villages.
Pray that Bajgi who have moved around India would become Christians.

“Every kind of living creature that swarms will live wherever the river flows, and there will be a huge number of fish because this water goes there. Since the water will become fresh, there will be life everywhere the river goes.” (Ezekiel 47:9)
The living waters in the prophet’s vision flowed into the Dead Sea and carried life with them, even into that stagnant lake. Where grace goes, spiritual life is the immediate and the everlasting consequence. Grace proceeds sovereignly according to the will of God, even as a river in all its windings follows its own sweet will. Wherever grace comes, it does not wait for life to come to it, but it creates life by its own quickening flow. I long to see this grace poured out along our streets and flood our neighborhoods! I long for it to come now into my house and rise until every room is drenched with it! Lord, let the living water flow to my family and my friends and let it not miss me. I hope I have drunk of it already; but I desire to bathe in it, to swim in it. My Savior, I need life more abundantly. Come to me, I pray, until every part of my nature is vividly energetic and intensely active. Living God, I pray, fill me with your own life.
I am a poor, dry stick; come and make me so to live that, like Aaron’s rod, I may bud and blossom and bring forth fruit unto your glory. Quicken me, for the sake of my Lord Jesus. Amen.
Something to think about today if you’re feeling dry and lifeless: God can give you new life and refreshment.LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
