DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Dear Savior, we are your disciples, and you are teaching us the art of living; but we are very dull and very slow, and there is such a bias in our corrupt nature, and there are so many examples in the world and the influence of an ungodly generation affects even those who know you. Dear Saviour, do not be impatient with us, but continue to teach us at your feet, until we have finally learned some of the sublime lessons of self-sacrifice, meekness, humility, boldness, and love which your life is fit to teach us. Lord, we ask that you would shape us into your own image. Let us live in you and live like you. Let us gaze upon your glory until we are transformed by the sight, and become Christlike among the sons of men.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
āWhoever wants to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.ā (Matthew 20:27ā28)
Assuredly HE who is greatest and chief among us has set us the example of the utmost love-service. No servants waited on him. He was Master and Lord; but he washed his servantsā feet. He came not to be served, but to serve. He received nothing from others; his was a life of giving, and the giving of a life. For this purpose he was the Son of man; with this design he came; to this end he gave his life a ransom for many. No service is greater than to redeem sinners by his own death, no ministry is lowlier than to die in the stead of sinners.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, weāre praying for the Bajgi of India.
This is an ethnic group of 36,000 people, almost entirely Hindu. There are likely no Christians among them. They have no access to the good news of Jesus.
Pray that God would send workers to the Bajgi.

Humble parenting means we canāt save our kids
This week, as we focus on humility, I know that this is an important theme for Christian parents to think about. As parents, we know that we canāt save our kids. As much as we would like to, we just arenāt powerful enough to change their hearts. Humble parents donāt have to be hopeless though. Since we are freed from the need to be our kidsā savior, we can humbly point them to the one who CAN save them.
Humble parents know that we canāt convince our kids into heaven, but we can bring them to Godās Word which DOES have the power to save.
If you want a practical guide to teach the Bible to kids of all ages, check out God Centered Family. This series of family devotionals covers every book of the Bible, giving discussion questions and daily readings for every chapter.
Humble parents canāt save their kids.
But humble parents MUST point their kids to Jesus.
LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
āYou must be schooled in humility. When you are half-an-inch above the ground, you are that half-inch too high.ā ā Charles Spurgeon
