DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Oh God, we thank you that we have not been cast out. Blessed by your name. It is a work of divine power and love over human nature, for now we are the children of the promise, certainly not born according to the strength of the human will, or of blood, or of birth, but born by the Holy Spirit through the power of the Word, born again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, children of the Great Father who is in heaven, having his life within us. Now, like Isaac, we are heirs according to promise and heirs of the promise, and we dwell at home in the Father’s house, and our soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and our mouth shall praise you as with joyful lips.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say, ‘There is no resurrection of the dead’?” (1 Corinthians 15:12)
Had they got so far as that, to call themselves Christians, and yet they doubted the truth of the resurrection of the dead? Yes, they spirited it away, they made it into a kind of myth or fable; and yet they called themselves Christians. The heathen do not believe the resurrection, that is not surprising; but that those who professed to believe that Christ had risen from the dead, yet doubted the resurrection of his people, was indeed a strange thing.
If Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead, we are preaching a falsehood. If he did not rise from the dead, you are believing a falsehood, and our preaching and your believing are nothing but vanity.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Palembang in Indonesia.
The Palembang are Muslims, but they also have a lot of reverence for shamans, who have special power over the spirit world. They believe their shamans can heal the sick.
Pray that the Palembang would find true healing in Jesus, who rules over even the demons.

Hope for a curious, spiritual age*
We live in a curious age — people love to learn about different perspectives and ways of seeing the world. Often, however, these curious people aren’t interested in Christianity. They think they’ve heard what Christianity has to offer and aren’t interested. Unfortunately, more often than not, they’ve only heard a watered-down Christianity that’s about what we can do to earn God’s love instead of the truth of what God has done to save us. They haven’t rejected true Christianity — they’ve rejected a made-up moralistic version (which we should also reject!)
We constantly need fresh presentations of the gospel that help people — from skeptics to seekers — see how wonderful the good news of Jesus really is.
And that’s exactly what Somethingism, a new book by Luke Cawley, does — he presents a coherent, intelligent response for anyone who believes there is “something” out there, but not sure what.
This book builds on the generic knowledge of God that all people have (see Romans 1) and builds a logical case from “god” to the Lord Jesus Christ, risen from the dead for our salvation. This is not another stiff apologetic book that’s packed with “arguments” and “proofs” for God. Somethingism is warm and wonderful. He doesn’t just show that the gospel is reasonable, he shows that it’s incredible.
The book really is a powerful invitation to live for "something" more.

I can hardly express how encouraging this book is for the Christian and how powerful it will be for a non-Christian. I read the book in one sitting because I could not put it down and I’m already planning to order another copy for a non-Christian I know.
