DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Lord, we next would pray that your own people should know somewhat of the quickening of the Spirit of God. Lord, we thank you for the very least life to God, for the feeblest ray of faith and glimmering of hope. We are glad to see anything of Christ in any man; but you have come, O Savior, not only that we might have life, but that we might have it more abundantly, so our prayer is that there may be abundance of life.

O make your people strong in the Lord, in the power of his might. Lord, we find when we walk close with God that we have no desire for the world.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“I will clothe [Zion’s] priests with salvation, and its faithful people will shout for joy.” (Psalm 132:16)

Zion has no mute saints. The sight of God at rest among his chosen is enough to make the most silent shout. If the morning stars sang together when the earth and heavens were made, much more will all the sons of God shout for joy when the new heavens and the new earth are finished, and the New Jerusalem comes down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride for her husband.

God is at work in your trials. Learn more from Spurgeon

In our trials, we need God to preserve us. To give us faith, even when we are surrounded by trials. When we are overwhelmed by trials, we must hold fast to our God.

Spurgeon knew that suffering was an important experience in the Christian life, which is why he preached about it so often. If you want to learn Spurgeon’s biblical wisdom on trials, check out Spurgeon on Suffering: Reflections on Our Pain and God’s Grace. This is a collection of 12 classic sermons on trials, suffering, and perseverance.

I put this collection together to help suffering Christians (which is all of us!) find a deeper, more biblical hope through the worst of our trials. I know that this book will encourage you.

(Plus, buying a copy of this book is a great way to support this ministry, so I can continue to send out a newsletter each day)
