DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

We know many people who are concerned for the truth, but they are wavering between two opinions. There are some whom we love who have not yet decided for God. Behold it trembles in the balance!

Cast in your cross, Jesus, and turn the scale! Love irresistible, come forth, and carry by blessed storm the hearts which have not yet yielded to all the attacks of the law! We long that some who never could be melted, even by the furnace of Sinai, may be dissolved by the beams of love from the tearful eyes of Jesus!

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, a curse be on him!” (Galatians 1:8)

Paul makes short work with newfangled “gospels.” He does not trifle with divine truth as if it were a matter of no consequence what is preached or what is believed. The modern style of speaking is, “Let us fellowship with him; he is a man of original thought. Surely you would not bind all men down to one mode of speech. Perhaps if he has made mistakes, you will bring him around to your way of thinking by receiving him kindly into your fellowship.” “No, no,” says Paul. “As we said before, so now I say again: if anyone preaches any other gospel to you contrary to what you have received, let him be accursed.”

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Amat in India.

Christ alone can save, “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved” (Act 4:12). The Amat have never heard of this name.

Pray that God would save the Amat.

LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON

“The more you know about Christ, the less will you be satisfied with superficial views of him.” — Charles Spurgeon
