DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Our first prayer today shall be for those people we know who do not pray. There is an ancient promise of yours, “I was found by those who did not seek me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am,’ to a nation that did not call on my name” (Isaiah 65:1). Prove the sovereignty of your grace, the priority of your power, which runs before the will of man, by making many willing on the day of your power, and calling the things that are not as though they were. May the day come in which those people who are in their graves shall hear the voice of God, and they that hear shall live.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“If you seek him, he will be found by you…” (1 Chronicles 28:9)

This promise is not, “if you deserve him, you will find him” or “if you purchase his favor, you will find him” but merely if you seek him. What strong assurance this promise gives to the seeker! You, yes you, if you seek your God, shall find him. When you find him you have found life, pardon, sanctification, preservation, and glory. Will you not seek, and seek on, since you shall not seek in vain?

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Micha of China.

So distracted by long held traditional beliefs (like ancestor worship), the Micha do not seek God. They cannot seek Christ, for they have never heard of him.

Pray that missionaries with the message of Jesus would call the Micha to seek the one true God.

Reflecting on the promises of God with your kids

Lately, I’ve been sharing a lot about the family devotionals that I am writing to walk kids through the entire Bible. While NOTHING can replace reading the actual text of Scripture to your kids, Bible storybooks can also be incredibly helpful resources. And I’m really excited about a new Bible storybook.

God’s Big Promises Bible Storybook by Carl Laferton is a new Bible storybook available for pre-order right now. I am BLOWN away by the quality of this book. Over 400+ pages, the book re-tells 92 foundational Bible stories to show kids (ages 2–8) the big story of the Bible.

As the title suggests, the book focuses on tracing God’s promises through all of Scripture. The book has special, bright colored icons that mark every time God makes a promise AND whenever he keeps that promise — it’s a tangible illustration to your kids that God is trustworthy and faithful.

I’m REALLY thankful for this resource. I know that my family will read it often for YEARS to come and I hope you’ll buy a copy for your family as well. It comes at an affordable price, so it’s a perfect baby shower gift.
