This week, our prayers and Scripture readings each day will focus on God’s power. Next week, we’ll highlight a different theme. Invite a friend to pray with you by sending them this link.
DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
How very often you show your mighty power. Oh Lord, we bless you that the voice of God has called many to Christ. Those that are hardened have felt a softness stealing over their spirits; those who were careless have been compelled to sit down and think; those that were wrapped up in earthly things have been compelled to think of eternal things; and thinking, have been disturbed, and driven to despair, but afterwards led to you, even to you, dear savior, who was lifted high upon the cross that by your death sinners might live.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” (Psalm 2:6)
By God’s decree the ever-blessed Son of the highest is placed in power and exalted to his throne. The rulers cannot snatch the scepter from his hand or knock the crown from his head. Jesus reigns and must reign till all enemies are put under his feet. As if it were a banquet rather than a conflict, the Lord God, as King, speaks to the King’s Son, even to his anointed at his right hand, and having acknowledged his royal rank, confers on him the highest honors.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Pashtun of Pakistan.
With nearly 33 million individuals, the Pashtun is the largest Muslim tribal group in the world. There are very few Christians among them (less than 0.01%).
Pray that missionaries would go to the Pashtun.

We are one with the all-powerful Lord
This week, as we dive into the topic of God’s power, it’s important to know that this power is OURS because of our connection to Jesus. We aren’t just close to him — we are ONE with him. United with him in a personal, life-giving, eternal, and real union.
This is a HUGE reality throughout the New Testament (it is HOW God saves us), but many Christians overlook it. If you want to learn more about what it means to be united to Christ, check out One with Christ by Marcus Peter Johnson. This is an incredible book that will leave you amazed and how close Jesus is to you (and how wonderfully good that truth is).
I hope you’ll check it out today.
