Yesterday, I announced the launch of Pray with Spurgeon Plus, a paid subscription to help support this newsletter. One of the benefits of this new premium version of the newsletter is a daily audio edition. Get a preview of this audio edition right here:

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

We would love to fall down on our faces and worship the Son of God today. It is such a wonder that he has loved us. He has done such wonderful things for us and in us that we may still call him God’s unspeakable gift. He is unspeakably precious to our souls.

You know all things, Lord; you know that we love you. May that love bubble up today like a boiling cauldron, may our hearts overflow; and if we cannot speak what we feel, may that holy silence be eloquent with the praise of God.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17)

Ascribe all evil to yourself, to the world, or to Satan; but ascribe all good unto God. “Every good, gift and every perfect gift”—every grain of goodness, every trace of excellence that there is in the world, comes from him; but no evil ever comes from him.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Matpa in Bhutan.

Bhutan is a Buddhist country; Buddhism is the country’s official religion and 75% of the population practices it. There has been very little advancement of Christianity within its borders. However, Christians have begun to move to Bhutan from Nepal and India.

Pray that Christians moving to Bhutan would boldly share their faith.

Answering Your Questions About Pray with Spurgeon Plus

Yesterday, I shared with you about Pray with Spurgeon Plus — a new premium subscription to help support this work. I wanted to take a moment to answer some of your questions about this new subscription.

Will Pray with Spurgeon stop being free?

NO. Pray with Spurgeon has always been free and it always will be. Pray with Spurgeon Plus is a way for some subscribers to support this work and gain access to bonus features.

Why are you launching a paid subscription?

Over the last three years, I have worked as bi-vocational pastor, supporting my family with various ventures on the internet, including SpurgeonBooks. A major source of my family’s income will be ending in 2025. I was worried that new work commitments (necessary to replace this income) might require me to stop sending Pray with Spurgeon forever. Pray with Spurgeon Plus is a way for us to work together to keep this ministry alive.

Additionally, Plus subscribers are helping fund new initiatives (like the audio edition, which can hear a sample of at the top of this email.)

What will I get with my paid subscription?

  • Audio Edition — Each day, along with the normal Pray with Spurgeon content that you love, you’ll also receive an audio edition. Listen to Pray with Spurgeon in the car, while you cook breakfast, or anywhere else on the go.

  • Weekend Edition — The Weekend Edition will return! This much-beloved Saturday email includes a prayer to help you prepare for church. The new and improved Weekend Edition will include other content from Spurgeon, including his personal letters (which are really encouraging devotional reading!)

  • Bonus Downloads — I’m working on several prayer-related resources (including a modern translation of With Christ in the School of Prayer by Andrew Murray, one of the most powerful books on prayer ever written, with original reflection questions and interactive exercises). These resources will be available for free to all Pray with Spurgeon Plus subscribers.

  • Support the Ministry — With your help, we can make sure Pray with Spurgeon continues to exist to help everyone grow their prayer life and learn from Spurgeon.

Is there a difference in the monthly or annual subscription?

No. Both subscription types will receive the same content. The annual subscription allows me to save on credit card transaction fees (and will give you a free month!), so it is a great way to support the ministry.

You shouldn’t charge for prayers!

I agree, which is why Pray with Spurgeon will always be free. For those who are able to support the ministry financially, Pray with Spurgeon Plus is a way to do that.

How can I sign up?

You can subscribe right here. Thanks for your support!
