DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Oh God, most high and glorious, the thought of your infinite serenity has often cheered us; for we are toiling and moiling, troubled and distressed here below, beneath the moon; but you sit forever in perfect happiness. Your designs cause you no worry or fear; for you will surely carry them out. Your purposes stand fast as the eternal hills. Your power knows no bound, your goodness no stint. You bring order out of confusion and our defeats are your victories.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.” (Ephesians 6:10)

Everything depends upon that. Whether you are called to work, or to wait, or to watch, or to suffer, you need to be strong. If you are not yourself strong, the very armor that you wear will be a burden to you. It is of the utmost importance that Christians should be as strong in grace as they can possibly be. And the power that is to be in them is to be the power of God: “the power of his might.” What a wonderful power that is! The power of flesh is weakness, and the power of man is fading, but the power of God is almighty and unchangeable; and if we can be clothed with this power there is scarcely any limit to what we may successfully attempt.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Pashtun of Pakistan.

The Pashtun live in many tribes and sub-tribes that speak a variety of dialects. Bible translators are working to bring the Bible into many of these dialects for the first time.

Pray that these translators would be faithful in their work.
