DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Keep all of your people. There are some who are sick and some who are desponding in spirit and there are some who have lately had to mourn over sad bereavement. Visit every aching heart and give consolation to every troubled spirit on this day. Feed the whole company of your children with bread to the full.
Bless the tired ones! There are those who have dear ones very sick and ill; may the Lord comfort and sustain them under great trouble of seeing others suffer. Remember any who are in temporal difficulties and those who are themselves ill. But especially help those who are depressed in spirit. There are among your own people plants that grow in the shade. Remember the man of a sorrowful spirit and the woman of a sad heart. Lift up the light of your countenance upon your people and let them be sad no more.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“He forgives all your iniquity; he heals all your diseases.” (Psalm 103:3)
None can set the human frame in order but he who made it. Medicines and physicians are of little service unless God blesses the doctor’s skill. Especially does the Lord heal soul sicknesses; and they are very many and very terrible. Bless his name that he still continues to heal. As fresh complaints break out in your poor flesh or spirit, and your soul mourns over them, he comes, and gives the healing balm.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Ashtiani of Iran.
All of the Ashtiani are Muslim. It is illegal to convert from Islam to Christianity in Iran. This is a tragedy and an injustice.
Pray that the leaders of Iran would begin to honor real religious freedom.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
Christ is at work around the world (and in you!)*
Hearts of Fire tells the story of eight courageous women who stood firm for Christ in the face of extreme persecution. Each of these women is an example of bold faith — faith that refused to be silenced when faced with threats, isolation, and violence.
These eight women are incredible.
But they are not the heroes of their stories.
Each of them set their hope in Christ alone and he is reason they were able to persevere in the face of persecution. He is more powerful than the abusive families, governments, and extremist groups that tried to stop these women and their churches. And he is at work in YOU!
Reading Hearts of Fire was an eye-opening experience that helped me better understand the realities of persecution today and the unique dynamics of the underground church. But above all, it strengthened my faith in the power of the risen Lord Jesus to conquer any opposition, preserve his people, and build his church.

LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
“It is well to praise the Lord for his mercy when you are in health, but make sure that you do it when you are sick, for then your praise is more likely to be genuine.” — Charles Spurgeon
