DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
God, we are distressed, we are greatly humbled when we see what is the condition to which we and all our race have fallen. “Where, then, is boasting?” (Romans 3:27) And yet we grieve to say that we do boast and have boasted. We are great at boasting, although we should rather lay our hands upon our mouths before you.
Our heart seems as if it has nothing else to ask for when it reaches this point; yet we go back a moment and say, “Lord, forgive us our sins; Lord, sanctify us; Lord, guide us in difficulty; Lord, supply our needs. May the Lord teach us; the Lord perfect us; the Lord comfort us; the Lord make us meet for the appearing of his Son from heaven!”
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and incurable—who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)
How many things there are in the world, which we have upon our tables and which we even eat, that if we were to put beneath our microscope we would be afraid to touch, for we should see all kinds of loathsome creatures creeping and crawling about in them—such things as we never conceived!
And so it is with human nature. When once the human heart is put under the microscope of Scripture, and we see it with a spiritual eye, we see it to be so vile and filthy that we are quite sure that until we have a new heart and a right spirit it would be just as impossible to expect to find good works in an unrighteous, unconverted man, as to hope to see fire burning in the midst of the ocean.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Rao in China.
The Rao were traditionally animists (worshiping spirits who “animate” the natural world), but were forced by the government to abandon their religious practices in the 1960’s. They lost their traditional religion; they are lost and without hope in the world.
Pray that God would send the light of Jesus in the Rao’s darkness.

How to Keep Kids Safe from Pornography*
We want our kids to be protected from sexually explicit media and people, but in a hyper-connected world, that’s harder than ever. This is why I’m really thankful for “Raising Sexually Faithful Kids,” a FREE course for parents from Harvest USA.
This course will give you everything you need to have safe, biblical conversations about sex and sexuality. It provides a lot of great, practical tools for protecting your kids (online and off!), but it is more focused on helping you understand and address each kid’s heart. This course is a goldmine of biblical help for parents — I hope you’ll enroll today!
