God has healed, he will strengthen

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Lord, though you have healed us of a former lameness so that now we have strength, we need a further touch from you; we are so apt to get dull and stupid; come and help us, Lord Jesus. A vision of your face will brighten us; but to feel your Spirit touching us will make us vigorous. Oh, for the leaping and the walking of the man born lame. May we today dance with holy joy like David before the Ark of God. May a holy exhilaration take possession of every part of us; may we be glad in the Lord; may our mouth be filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing, “for the Lord has done great things for us of which we are glad.”

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.” (Ephesians 6:10)

Whether you are called upon to work, or to wait, or to watch, or to suffer, you need to be strong. If you are not yourself strong, the very armor that you wear will be a burden to you. It is of the utmost importance that Christians should be as strong in grace as they can possibly be. And the power that is to be in them is to be the power of God: “the power of his might.” What a wonderful power that is! The power of flesh is weakness, and the power of man is fading, but the power of God is almighty and unchangeable; and if we can be girt about with this power there is scarcely any limit to what we may successfully attempt.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Kluet of Indonesia.

These people have very little access to medical care and are seeing a sharp increase in deadly illnesses like malaria and dengue fever. They need doctors and medical providers.

Pray that Christian doctors will bring medical care and the hope of Christ to the Kluet.

God is at work — be helped by his strength

This week, we’re reflecting on the theme of God’s power and strength. But how does God’s strength help us today? That’s the ministry of God the Holy Spirit. He is at work in us, through us, and for our good, ultimately for God’s glory.

If you want to learn more about God the Holy Spirit’s ministry, Supernatural Power for Everyday People by Jared Wilson is a great resource. This is a fantastic, thoroughly-biblical book on experiencing the Holy Spirit that will leave you confident in God’s grace (not pursuing experiences that “feel” spiritual).

I know this book will bless you, so I hope you’ll grab a copy today.
