Thanks for praying with us this week. We’ll be back on Monday.

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

And now, Lord Jesus, we have a thousand things to ask of you and of your Father; but you know what we have need of before we ask. Give to each one of your own, that special gift most needed; we may not even know what it is, but according to your own wisdom and prudence, deal out of your treasury things new and old, for the enrichment and comfort of your people.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.” (Matthew 6:8)

God does not need us to pray for his information, for he “knows the things you need;” nor to repeat the prayer over and over for his persuasion, for as our Father he is willing to bless us. Therefore let us not be superstitious and dream that there is virtue in “much speaking.” In the multitude of words, even in prayer, sin is unavoidable (Proverbs 10:19).

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Matpa in Bhutan.

God will be “exalted among the nations” (Psalm 46:10), but he has never been exalted among the Matpa, a nation which has never heard of Jesus.

Pray that the gospel would reach the Matpa for the first time.

An Update on Pray with Spurgeon Plus

Earlier this week, I launched Pray with Spurgeon Plus, a new premium subscription to give those who are able to do so a way to support this ministry financially in exchange for bonus content (including a daily audio edition of the newsletter and a bonus weekend email — look for it in your inbox tomorrow!).

The response has been really encouraging. In a season of discouragement, it’s been a blessing to know that this little email is valuable to so many people!

Because of your support, I’ve already reached a big percentage of my goal. However, there is still a way to go. If you want to support this ministry, I hope you’ll subscribe to Pray with Spurgeon Plus right here.
