DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Glory be to the Father. We feel the love of children within our hearts; we can say Abba, Father. Oh, how we love you, our God. Father of Jesus, Father of all who are in Jesus, our Fatherâsweeter word than Abraham could use. You have given us more light and introduced us to a nearer and dearer place than Abraham knew: shall we not worship? Inconceivably glorious, we are awe-struck. Inconceivably good, we are quickened into boldness. Our God, our Fatherâwe mingle the two words and we feel it to be very sweet to be in the immediate presence of such an One.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
âGo, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy SpiritâŠâ (Matthew 28:19)
Those who by faith in Christ become his disciples are to be baptized into the name of the Triune Lord; and after baptism they are still to be taught all that Christ commanded. We are not to invent anything new; nor to change anything to suit the current of the age; but to teach the baptized believers to observe âall things whatsoeverâ our divine king has commanded. This is the perpetual commission of the church of Christ.
