DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Bless, we pray, at this time, the entire church of God in every part of the earth. Prosper the work and service of Christian people, however they endeavor to spread the kingdom of Christ. Oh savior, let your kingdom come. We long for you to reign and for your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. We pray that you would use every one of us according to our ability to be used. Take us and let no talent lie to waste and rot in the treasure house but may every pound of yours be put out in trading for you in the blessed market of soul-winning. Give us success. Increase the gifts and graces of those that are saved. Bind us in closer unity to one another than ever. Let peace reign; let holiness adorn us.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“... but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.” (1 Peter 3:15)

Have your doctrinal views, and all your knowledge of Christ, packed away in a handy form, so that, when people want to know what you believe, you can tell them. If they wish to know why you believe that you are saved, have your answer all ready in a few plain, simple sentences; and in the gentlest and most modest spirit make your confession of faith to the praise and glory of God. Who knows but what such good seed will bring forth an abundant harvest?

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Harzani of Iran.

The Harzani are Muslims, but they also worship trees and fear demons. They need to hear the truth of Jesus to set them free from fear.

Pray that the Harzani would hear the gospel and believe the good news of Jesus.

RECOMMENDED RESOURCE

Will your marriage be stronger or weaker by the end of the new year?

Whether you like to make New Year resolutions or not, every married Christian needs to plan intentionally to strengthen their marriage each year. Your marriage will either get stronger or weaker — staying the same isn’t an option.

In my experience counseling and discipling married couples, one of the most powerful things you can do to strengthen your marriage is simply paying more attention to your spouse. Examining their lives and thinking about what challenges they will face and how you can help.

This is why I created The God Centered Husband One-Year Journal and The God Centered Wife One-Year Journal. These simple tools have 52 weekly templates filled with prompts to help you take inventory of your marriage and pursue your spouse by God’s grace. Just think: how much will your marriage improve if you just spend five minutes each week thinking about these things?

I’m really excited about this resource, so I hope you’ll grab a copy today for yourself and another one for a friend (a GREAT Christ-centered Christmas gift!)
