DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

Blessed are you, oh God; teach us your statutes! Because you are the infinitely blessed one, you can impart blessing and you are infinitely willing to do so, and therefore do we approach you with great confidence, through Jesus Christ your Son, whom you have made blessed forevermore. Oh, hear the voice of your servants this day, and according to your infinite love and wisdom answer us; according to your riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“The queen of the south will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and look—something greater than Solomon is here.” (Matthew 12:42)

The second sign of our Lord’s mission is his kingly wisdom. As the fame of Solomon brought the queen of the south from the farthest parts of the earth, so does the doctrine of our Lord command attention from the outermost islands of the sea. Although Israel did not perceive his glorious wisdom, Ethiopia and Sheba will hear of it and come bowing before him. The queen will rise up again; she will rise up as a witness against unbelieving Jews, for she journeyed far to hear Solomon, while they would not hear the Son of God himself who came into their midst. The superlative excellence of his wisdom stands for our Lord as a sign that can never be defeated.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Naru of China.

The Bible has never been translated in the Naru language. They cannot believe a Bible that they cannot read.

Pray that qualified Bible translators would bring the Word of God to the Naru for the first time.

Teach lasting wisdom to your kids

As parents, we want to teach our kids a lot of things — everything from brushing their teeth to marrying a godly spouse and a thousand things in between. These are all great things to teach our kids, but if you want your kids to have lasting wisdom, they need a better teacher. They need to learn from God.

They don’t just need to learn about God — they need to learn from God. They need to hear directly from God, in his Word, every day.

That’s the passion behind God Centered Family, my series of family devotionals — it’s built on the conviction that, kids need the Bible, unfiltered and unapologetic. It’s not “too boring” or “too hard” for them — it’s words of life for them.

If you want your kids to have lasting wisdom, they need God’s Word. Of course, this is easier said than done. The Bible is big and leading our kids to enjoy it is a daunting task.

And that’s where God Centered Family comes in. These simple-to-use family devotionals will give you everything you need to teach your kids the Bible. The entire Bible. They are interactive, focused on Jesus, and realistic for the busiest families and squirmiest kids.

If you want to teach your kids wisdom in 2025, don’t just teach them good ideas — bring them to God’s unfailing Word every day.
