God has always (and will always) love us

DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)

We thank you, Lord, for the love without beginning which chose us before the earth was, for the love without measure which entered into covenant for our redemption, for the love without failure which in due time appeared in the person of Christ and brought out our redemption, for that love which has never changed, though we have wandered; that love which remains faithful even when we are unfaithful. O God, we praise Thee for keeping us till this day, and for the full assurance that Thou wilt never let us go.

Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)

“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

The black background of sin makes the bright line of love shine out more clearly. When the lightning writes the name of the Lord with a flaming finger across the black brow of the tempest, we are compelled to see it; so also when love inscribes the cross on the tablet of our sin.

PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

This week, we’re praying for the Ashtiani of Iran.

All of the Ashtiani are Muslim. It is illegal to convert from Islam to Christianity in Iran. This is a tragedy and an injustice.

Pray that the leaders of Iran would begin to honor real religious freedom.

Showing our kids the love of God

In a hate-filled world, the love of God is a counter-cultural, hope-filled message. And it’s one that we have to point our kids to every day. They need it desperately.

If you’re a parent and you desire to point your kids to the life-changing message of God’s love every day, check out God Centered Family, my series of family devotionals through the entire Bible.

These devotionals show the love of God in Christ from every chapter of Scripture. Each day’s devotional has a one paragraph explanation (“The Jesus Connection”), demonstrating how this passage points us to Jesus and our need for him.

Your kids need to know the love of God — show it to them in his word. God Centered Family will give you everything you need to do so confidently.
