DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
We come to you and pray that, for Jesus’ sake, and through the virtue of the blood once shed for many for the remission of sins, you would give us perfect pardon of every transgression of the past. Oh God, blot out all our sins like a cloud and let them never be seen again. Grant us also the peace-speaking word of promise applied by the Holy Spirit, that being justified by faith we may have peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us be forgiven and know it and may there remain no lingering question in our heart about our reconciliation with God, but by a firm, full assurance based upon faith in the finished work of Christ, may we stand as forgiven men and women against whom transgression shall never again be mentioned forever.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
“Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith.” (Galatians 3:11)
Even the just are not justified by their own righteousness, but live by faith. It follows then most conclusively that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God. If the best of men find no justification coming to them through their personal virtues, but stand accepted only by faith, how much more such imperfect beings, such frequent sinners as ourselves?
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week, we’re praying for the Jat of Pakistan.
The Bible has been translated in the Saraiki language, which the Jat speak. It is available online and in print.
Pray that Jat people would find the Word of God and believe it.

Good News for Guilty Kids
Christian parents all desire their kids to be saved — to trust in Christ and experience the wonderful blessing of justification that we’ve been praying about with Spurgeon this week. We know that our kids need justification because we see their sin (often, unfortunately, we see it even more clearly than our own sin 😬).
Our kids need to know God’s truth with depth and clarity. They don’t need simplistic, moralistic Bible stories that they’ll grow out of — they need to have a deep knowledge of the truth of God. We don’t just want them to be justified, we want them to know what justification is, why they need it, and how Jesus alone can give it to them.
If you’re ready to invest real energy into the discipleship of your kids, check out God Centered Family, my series of family devotionals through the entire Bible. Reading the (entire) Bible together is the best way to form deep discipleship in our kids — hands-down. These devotionals will help you know what to read, what to say about it, and how to ask questions that spark open, honest conversations about Jesus with the whole family.
I love hearing how God is at work through God Centered Family — and I can’t wait to hear what he does in your family’s life through these devotionals.
FAITH’S CHECKBOOK
Spurgeon’s classic devotional, The Chequebook of the Bank of Faith, contains a promise of God for every day of the year. Pray with Spurgeon Plus subscribers receive the daily readings every weekday.

“Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will never be harmed by the second death.” (Revelation 2:11)
The first death we must endure unless the Lord should suddenly come to his temple. For this let us abide in readiness, awaiting it without fear, since Jesus has transformed death from a dreary cavern into a passage leading to glory.
The thing to be feared is not the first death, but the second death; not the parting of the soul from the body but the final separation of the entire man from God. This is death indeed. This death kills all peace, joy, happiness, and hope. When God is gone, all is gone. This kind of death is far worse than ceasing to be: it is existence without the life which makes existence worth having.
If we fight on to the end by God’s grace and conquer in the glorious war, no second death can lay its cold finger upon us. We shall have no fear of death and hell for we shall receive a crown of life which will not fade away. How this strengthens us for the fight! Eternal life is worth a life’s battle. To escape the hurt of the second death is a thing worth struggling for throughout a lifetime.
Lord, give us faith, so that we may overcome, and then grant us grace to remain unharmed even though sin and Satan dog our heels!
Something to think about today if you’re feeling scared of death: the Lord will sustain us and give us everlasting life with him.
LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
“Remember, poor tried saint, that you are just as much justified as any other child of God. I know that I am completely justified.” — Charles Spurgeon
