DAILY PRAYER (BY SPURGEON)
Give us first a sense of perfect pardon. May there be nothing between any child of yours and yourself, great Father, that could mar the perfection of communion. May we know that you have forgiven us for Jesus Christās sake. And as for anything in us that would grieve your Spirit, take it away at once, and then let your Spirit bear witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. Oh, now give us the spirit of adoption. If we are indeed yours, by your Fatherly love to us, we do beg you to breathe into every child of yours a sense of love, a sense of your near presence.
Amen.
VERSE OF THE DAY (COMMENTARY BY SPURGEON)
āFor this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.ā (Matthew 26:28)
Jesus suffering, bleeding, dying, has procured for sinners the forgiveness of their sins. Of what sins? Of all sins of every sort and kind, however heinous, aggravated, and multiplied. The blood of the covenant takes every sin away, be it what it may; there was never a sin believingly confessed and taken to Christ that ever baffled his power to cleanse it. This fountain has never been tried in vain. Murderers, thieves, liars, and adulterers have come to Jesus by repentance and faith and through the merit of his sacrifice their sins have been put away.
PRAY FOR THE NATIONS
This week weāre praying for the Baheng of China.
China does not have real religious freedom. Christians are only permitted to worship in state-sponsored churches, loyal to the Chinese Communist Party above Godās Word.
Pray that China would gain true religious liberty so that the gospel can freely spread to the Baheng.
RECOMMENDED RESOURCE
Reminder: My book was released a month ago!
Iām so thankful that my first book, Sex and Self-Forgetfulness, a guide for Christian married couples, was released just one month ago. Itās been so encouraging to hear how God is using this book to encourage discouraged couples and stimulate meaningful, unifying conversations about sex in marriage.
If you want to become more like Jesus in EVERY area of your marriage, then I hope youāll pick up this biblical, accessible, and practical guide. The book is available wherever books are sold. Itās available on Amazon, ChristianBook, and directly from the publisher OR ask for it at your local bookstore or library.

ā⦠what the righteous desire will be given to them.ā (Proverbs 10:24)
If a desire is righteous, it is safe for God to fulfill it. It would be neither good for the man himself, nor for society at large, that this kind of promise should be made to the unrighteous. Let us keep the Lordās commands and he will rightfully have respect for our desires.
When righteous men are left to desire unrighteous desires, they will not be fulfilled. But then these are not their real desires; they are their wanderings or blunders and it is well that they should be refused. Their gracious desires shall come before the Lord, and he will not tell them no.
Does the Lord deny us our requests for a time? Let the promise for today encourage us to ask again. Has he denied us altogether? We will thank him still, for it always was our desire that he should deny us if he judged a denial to be best.
As for some things, we ask very boldly. Our chief desires are for holiness, usefulness, likeness to Christ, preparedness for heaven. These are the desires of grace rather than of natureāthe desires of the righteous man rather than of the mere man. God will not be stingy in these things but will give them to us in exceeding abundance. āTake delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heartās desiresā (Psalm 37:4).
Something to think about today if youāre feeling like God hasnāt heard your prayers: He is infinitely wise, infinitely patient, and infinitely caring. He has heard you.
LAST WORD FROM SPURGEON
